Naomi House Children's Hospice
"My Family"
Lydia is a nine year old girl who lives in Hampshire with her mum, dad and three siblings. Lydia's sister regularly visits Naomi House, the family often stay with her to have a break and enjoy all the house has to offer.
Lydia chose to produce a picture of her family as her heroes and she worked hard over a number of days to design and create her finished piece. Lydia's family are very special to her, she talked about their love for one another and how they spend time together going to fun and exciting places. One of Lydia's favourite places to go with her family is Paulton's Park - a place they all love!
Lots of thought went into Lydia's picture. She spent time looking through books and watching her family to help her create just the right look for each face. If you look closely at each person they are all looking at someone different with Lydia looking out at them all. This was done very much on purpose.
Lydia has drawn a symbol, within the space for each family member that reminds her of them and has included their favourite colours as the background for each.
She designed and created her piece of artwork using a variety of materials to give it a bright and striking look. Beginning with a single pencil crayon she moved through crayons, paints, oil pastels and glitter.
