James
Age 19
Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People
"Rainbow's is my hero"
James is 19 years old. He has Duchenne muscular dystrophy. He has been coming to Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People for approximately ten years now.
When asked who he would like to portray as his hero in his artwork he had no hesitation in saying it was everything and everyone at Rainbows, they are his heroes.
James loves the fact that it feels like his ‘second home'. He comes to Rainbows to have fun times in a place where he always feels welcome and has so many friends, not just with his peer group but also with the staff.
He loves joining in with the younger children, making them laugh and giving them the same welcoming feel that he has always enjoyed.
The inspiration behind James' picture is the rainbow itself and what it represents. Rainbows, to James, is a place of "brightness and colour that always has a pot of gold at the end of it".
"There is always so much to do, computers, watching DVDs, making things and painting pictures" he said. James particularly enjoys just chilling out and having a good time with good people.
