"My dad - My hero"
Harry is a gorgeous 11 year old boy with an undiagnosed neuro degenerative condition.
This means he is profoundly disabled and relies on others for all aspects of his care. Harry has periods of ill health and has recently had to spend time on a paediatric intensive care unit to treat status epilepticus.
Harry's older brother Thomas also had the same degenerative condition and he unfortunately died nearly five years ago, aged ten.
Despite all this Harry is a very happy, sociable young man who has a fun packed quality of life. Music, arts and crafts, cookery and McFly are amongst the things Harry likes best.
Harry lives at home with his mum, dad and dog Benji. Harry chose his dad as his ‘hero' who he wanted to paint. He has done a portrait of him with his hands. Harry has a lot of fun with his dad. He does a lot of silly things with him - including slapstick humour which he finds very funny. Harry has great trust in his dad. He knows that if his dad agrees with something that someone is doing for him that he will be safe because his dad would never let anyone harm him.
