"Heroic Sparkly Cheryl"

Hi, my name is Amy and I'm 12 years old. In 2004, I became unwell and was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Over the past few years I have spent a lot of time in and out of hospital having operations, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

During the past few months I have been particularly poorly and have not been able to go to school and have been getting quite bored. (There's only so much day time TV you can watch!!)

Well, enough about me. Being involved in the This is my hero project kept me busy and I have thoroughly enjoyed doing it.

My hero is Cheryl Cole. I admire and love her. The fact that she came from a council estate in Newcastle to being one of the most loved women in the biggest girl band in the UK, without forgetting her roots is amazing.

I love Cheryl on The X Factor. The way she cries and feels for the contestants, having been in their place seven years ago on Popstars: The Rivals.

Cheryl is my favourite in Girls Aloud, because she has a funny and outgoing personality. I love her dress sense and of course her false eyelashes.

I have been to see Girls Aloud twice and loved it, especially seeing Cheryl dancing and singing. I also love Cheryl when she sings solo and the way she dances in videos.

Sadly, not long after Amy completed her artwork she passed away.

Please note this case study (images and copy) must not be used or replicated in any other form without prior consent from Children's Hospices UK.
