"Rody the Super Hamster"
Jack is 15 years old and has Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Jack also suffers with asthma, eczema and ectodermal dysplasia which affects his eyes. Jack has been receiving care from Chestnut Tree House since December 2007. Jack lives with his parents and sister. Just as his hero breaks through the big walls he faces, Jack has also broken through many difficult situations that he has faced. He has several hobbies such as music, computer games and remote control cars.
The title of Jack's piece is Rody the super hamster
Jack said: "I have chosen my pet hamster as my hero and have made him into a Superhero called Rody. This painting shows him breaking through a very big brick wall simply by zapping it with his laser eyes. When I'm faced with something big to overcome he helps me through it. He has several other super powers, including super strength and speed. He has rocket engines on his feet and he is able to fly anywhere using his magic cloak. During the day he is generally asleep. He has a very cute, cuddly side to him: you would never know that he is really an amazing superhero. He is also funny and I imagine him to be able to detect when danger is near and know what to do in the face of it. He is great company; there is never a dull moment when he is around. He's fantastic, he's my hero!"
