Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton has created a hero mask especially for Children's Hospice Week 2010. His mask will be auctioned during the charity week (15-22 May).

Talking about his hero and inspiration for his mask Lewis Hamilton said: "I chose Muhammad Ali for this project as he is an absolute sporting legend and a hero of mine.  He's one of the greatest icons in the history of sport.

"I was inspired by Ali's most famous phrase: ‘float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.'   I started to play around with the colours and forms of butterflies and bees - and I came up with an idea that seemed to blend the two.

"To put it all together, I got some assistance from Lisa, who is really creative and works at McLaren.  Whilst I had great fun in helping with the design process and coming up with ideas, there is no way I could have made the finished mask without Lisa's help, as I definitely don't have much talent in that direction!"

Lewis is pictured with Lisa and his mask.

The mask is in a white wood box frame measuring 392mm wide, by 302mm high, by 70mm deep.
